Kathy stepped outside Stryver Hall, seeing her breath form in front of her. It was finally winter and to Kathy, that meant fun. She loved winter. She loved snow and ice and everything that had to do with the season. She hugged her fleece jacket closer to her, hoping that the four layers she had on would protect her from the elements. In addition to four layers on her top, she had her old jeans with holes at the knees over a pair of black spandex. Mittens covered her delicate hands and a cute knit hat with ear flaps topped off the winter outfit. A smile appeared on Kathy's face as she started out to the pond. She had saw that it had froze while walking the other day and this morning she would participate in one of her favorite winter hobbies: ice skating.
Adjusting her skates over her shoulders, she made her way down to the pond, a yawn escaping her mouth. Ok, so it was already eleven in the morning but Kathy had had a hard week and since Donnie needed a day off, she decided to sleep in and catch up on her other hobbies. As she approached the pond, her assumptions were confermined. The ice had frozen and was perfect for skating. Brushing snow off of a large boulder, she sat down, taking her mittens off to help put on her skates. Within minutes her skates were on and tight and she was ready to get started. Now Kathy wasn't the best skater in the world, she had focused on horses to much to really get good. But she did know how to go foward, back, stop and do a couple minor spins. Even though she wasn't olympic material, she still loved it and would skate at any chance she could.
She walked onto the ice, leaving her boots on the boulder. Even though she hadn't skated since last winter, it immediatly came back to her, and she glided around the ice. She put in her ipod earphones into her ears and put on Josh Groban, excellent skating music. As she flew around the ice, she forgot all the pressures of her life and just let go. It was a great feeling to just forget about the reality of life and live in a fantasy for a little while. Kathy closed her eyes as she did a little spin. This was heaven for her.
